Expedition Name: LEAR’S MACAW RECOVERY

Location: Barreiras, Bahia, Brazil

AIM/Mission Statement: To alleviate nesting difficulties for the Lear’s Macaw population in the area by providing cleared nests in sandstone rockface cavities occupied by invasive and aggressive African bees. During the operations, stick ladders put in place by poachers to be removed and education of local farmer/landowner to take place to aid monitoring and husbandry of the Lear’s Macaws and bee population.
